South Island Road Trip – March 2010

Yes, the rumour was true! There is definite talk of a South Island road trip, and your Committee is looking for expressions of interest to take part.

The plan is:

March 4th (Thursday) – Leave Auckland. (Note to any die-hard JAFAs – you won’t need your passport despite rumours to the contrary!) Pick up other members in Taupo and overnight in Wellington.
Friday 5th – Bluebridge Ferry. Discount rate has been negotiated – more details to follow.

Drive to Nelson.
We will stay in Nelson until Wednesday. Activities in and around Nelson include (click on the links to go to the websites):
Classic Wooden Boat Show (Saturday 6th – 7th)
Wearable Arts Museum and Classic Car Museum
Able Tasman National Park activities
Takaka (Golden Bay)
Collingwood
Wineries – just Google “Nelson Wineries”
Pottery – just Google “Nelson Pottery”
etc
Wednesday 10th – drive to the West Coast, see the sights in and around Greymouth and Hokitika.
Friday 12th – drive to Christchurch and meet up with the local club for an event (to be determined) on Saturday 13th.
Sunday 14th – stay in the South Island to do your own thing or drive to Kaikoura and stay overnight.

Monday 15th – drive to Picton for the Bluebridge Ferry to the North Island and then drive home at your leisure.
